Pet Mutation Update

The Pet Mutation update was added to Grow a Garden on July 12, 2025. It’s an expansion of the Prehistoric Update, adding more dinosaur pets, seeds, gear, and a new system for mutating pets. Continue reading for more information about the update, how it works, and what admin events took place before it.

Before every major update we always get some fun events teasing new mutations that are often admin-triggered events or as they like to say, admin abuse. This time around, we got a few new events and a couple of the usual ones you’d expect.

This was the first time the Brains.. event triggered where zombies sprinted to player gardens infecting them with the Infection mutation. However, it was a pretty short event and may be extended at a later time.

We also got a quick peek at the Pool Party! event which is mainly for show and getting the Duckfloat cosmetic. It created a pool with a slide, two diving boards, and some chairs, near the Gear Stall side of the island.

Roblox fans of obbies will appreciate the new Obby event where you can do a short obstacle course in the sky to unlock the Jump Pad cosmetic. This neat event has a bunch of platforms and blocks suddenly assemble in the sky.

What’s New in the Pet Mutation Update

This new update builds on the Prehistoric Update by introducing more dinosaurs, a way to upgrade the DNA machine, the new Primal Egg, and plenty more. It even added a new Prismatic seed to the Seed Stall, so you’ll need to keep an eye out for that if you want to get it.

Mutate Your Pets For New Variants

This update added the new Pet Mutations station where you can input pets above level 50 to apply 1 of 12 different mutations to them. These can add new variants, buff their stats, and even add unique abilities. You can find the new spot for mutating pets to the left of the Pet Eggs stand. And if you interact with the Pet Mutations sign there, it’ll show the odds for each new pet mutation.

New Seeds

There are five new seeds, where four are craftable and one is now in the Seed Shop. You’ll need to plant a bunch of Horsetail and even some Ember Lilies if you want to get these new seeds.

  • Horsetail
  • Lingonberry
  • Amber Spine
  • Grand Volcania
  • Giant Pinecone

New Dinosaurs and the Primal Egg

The Primal Egg is now in Grow a Garden with six new pets that you can get. This new egg is part of the new system for upgrading the Prehistoric DNA Machine. According to our new Raptor friend, Barry, the first upgrade provides access to a new egg from the DNA Machine. Here are the six new Primal Egg pets:

  • Iguanodon
  • Parasaurolophus
  • Pachycephalosaurus
  • Dilophosaurus
  • Ankylosaurus
  • Spinosaurus
Beyond the new egg and pets, you can also reduce the wait time for the DNA Machine and unlock Craftable Eggs. To do this, you need to submit Prehistoric Plants.

New Events Like the Zombie Brains

As previously mentioned, the lead-up to the Pet Mutation update triggered a few new events, with one being zombie-themed. During the Brains event, zombies run to each player’s garden, mutating plants with the Infected mutation. Since this new event is short-lasting for about a minute, you’ll likely only have a couple of plants become Infected.

Other new events include the Pool Party! and Obby mentioned earlier on this page. Being on Grow a Garden when the Pool Party! event triggers will get you a cosmetic. Completing the Obby event will also give you one. You can even complete it multiple times to get the Jump Pad repeatedly.
